Ever Wonder Who Cleans Your Teeth?
When you come in for your next periodontal deep cleaning, you’ll be greeted by Chris, our full-time dental hygienist. Hygienists are highly trained, licensed professionals who specialize in preventive dental care. They remove plaque and tartar, polish your teeth, provide oral hygiene education, and are often the first to spot signs of gum disease or other dental concerns.
Chris holds an Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from Middlesex College and will soon graduate from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health. He is certified in dental anesthesia, pediatric first aid, CPR, and AED usage. With more than three years of clinical experience, Chris combines strong clinical skills with excellent communication. His goal is to create a comfortable, respectful environment that helps patients take charge of their oral health.
A dental hygienist typically holds either an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene and must pass national and state licensure exams. In many practices, including ours, the hygienist becomes a familiar face, seeing patients every three to six months for cleanings and preventive care. This regular schedule often leads to a trusted, long-term relationship between the hygienist and the patient.
At Kelner Periodontics, the role of the hygienist goes beyond basic cleanings. Our hygienist works closely with Dr. Danielle Kelner to make sure your periodontal health is monitored consistently and thoroughly.
Dr. Kelner is not only the periodontist behind the practice but also its solo practitioner. She is the one you will see at every visit. This consistency allows her to deliver truly personalized care based on a deep understanding of your treatment history and goals. Dr. Kelner is board-certified and experienced in treating gum disease, bone loss, and placing dental implants, using the latest technology to ensure precise results. She takes the time to explain each step of your care so that you can make informed decisions without confusion or uncertainty.
Her background includes graduating with honors from the University of Virginia and earning her DMD from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, now part of Rutgers. She completed her residency in periodontics and dental implants at NYU and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Greater Westfield Dental Society and continues her education regularly to stay current on advancements in the field.
Together, Dr. Kelner and Chris form a team focused on your comfort, health, and long-term results. The next time you leave your cleaning with a refreshed, polished smile, you’ll know it was delivered by professionals who are committed to excellent care every step of the way.
Don’t forget to thank your dental hygienist for your sparkling smile and impeccable hygiene regimen!
